End of life personal health budgets (PHBs) provide an opportunity for people in their final weeks and months of life to have a more personalised experience of care, by giving people more of a say in the care they receive and helping to ensure it meets their individual needs and preferences.

A personal health budget can help to give people more choice about who provides their care, where their care is received, and their preferred place of death.

Birmingham and Solihull personal health budgets

Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Boad and Hospice Charity Partnership are working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, in line with the Health & Care Act 2022, to provide a new way of delivering care for patients at the end of their lives across the city.

The end of life personal health budget service allows patients and their families more choice and control over the health and social aspects of their needs, encouraging care to be uniquely individualised to them.

There is set criteria for joining the personal health budget project. For more information please download the personal health budget booklet or contact our Project Lead Jan Hipkiss via email: jth.phbproject@nhs.net or call 0121 465 2053.
